Welcome Students and Guests Welcome
to my professional website!
Here you will find information for Professor Richard Geib's classes taught
for Azusa Pacific University, as well as other materials regarding digital
teaching
in
the 21st century.
Most of this site is dedicated to the university classes I teach, and my APU
classes can be accessed here. I teach at the APU
satellite campus in Ventura County, as well as purely online classes whenever needed.
This site is focused for teachers in the Ventura County area; mostly it serves
students in my college courses, but it can be used freely by anyone.
Pedagogy and Technology
In addition to my night job as an
adjunct professor, I happily spend my days teaching at Foothill Technology
High School. Day after day, year after year, I find endless enjoyment
in developing high-interest, creative lesson plans and online projects for
my classes. It makes for a fulfilling professional life that never ceases
to offer opportunities for renewal through challenging but interesting work.
My job as a classroom teacher and college professor is the nexus of pedagogy
and technology; I find them to be inextricably enmeshed. Yes, all of us teachers
are mandated
to teach “the
standards” in
our disciplines, but who says it must be as flat and boring as it so often
is? I try to create digital curriculum that will allow access to even reluctant
learners, and I try to help other teachers do so, too, if at all possible.
This is a career trajectory through curricular choices via digital tools
in a list of online assignment and projects --
-- that is just about the best introduction possible to Rich as an educational
practitioner, as well as a professional biography of sorts, from 1994 onwards.
Enjoy!
