WELCOME!

Welcome to Web Design for the classroom!

The purpose of this class is to learn the technologies of the read/write World Wide Web, and to adopt appropriate and specific instructional purposes and activities to take advantage of the possibilities for digital learning online.

Students in this class will follow some general assignments and guidelines, in addition to specific tasks agreed upon by instructor and student. The idea is that students will develop uses of the World Wide Web that will be relevant to their classroom needs and conditions.

The instructor will provide the background knowledge and basic information about web design and other online content technologies, and student will take these tools and build curriculum and learning tasks that will offer opportunities for students to learn better than before. Simple enough!

CLASS GOALS

  • Become proficient in the creation and modification of an HTML-editing and FTP software applications.
  • Examine and identify appropriate uses for web pages in an academic setting.
  • Use electronic media to create lesson plans and projects, both in “read” and “read/write” scenarios.
  • Students will examine the strengths and weaknesses of various “read/write” media for the World Wide Web.
