Welcome to Hypermedia-Enhanced Learning Environments!

The purpose of this class is to provide students with experiences and resources to more deeply integrate different types of hypermedia into the teaching and learning experiences.

All group-facilitated discussions are intended to help students research most current and effective trends in using hypermedia/interactive technologies to enrich teaching and learning in an authentic manner.

Focus should be placed on using technologies to more effective meet teaching and learning goals, styles, and behavioral differences. Interactive technology resources include, but are not limited to, the following:

Course Description

This course focuses on the utilization of hypermedia to provide more authentic teaching and learning experiences in today’s classroom. Working in collaboration with other class members, students will investigate ways to use hypermedia/interactive technologies to address different learning styles, strengths, and behavioral differences. Students will also investigate and develop new ways to incorporate hypermedia resources into both student projects and their own instructional practices.

CLASS GOALS

  • To gain an understanding of the variety of hypermedia/interactive technologies available to the classroom teacher.
  • To develop an understanding of how hypermedia can be used to enrich teaching to different learning styles, learning strengths, behavioral differences, and subject areas.
  • To utilize online communication tools for professional collaboration and support.
  • To productively contribute to online discussions in weekly course topics.
  • To create a lesson plan for students in which the students incorporate hypermedia with core curriculum as both learning and reporting tool.
  • To investigate new ways to use hypermedia resources to enhance instructional practices.
  • To develop a project in which the teacher uses hypermedia resources to enhance instructional delivery, reinforcement, and/or re-teaching practices.
  • To develop short and long term professional goals regarding the use of hypermedia resources in future teaching and learning experiences.
